Established in April 2008, the College was first housed in Government Higher Secondary School Kokernag. At that stage, the College offered only Arts Stream due to the non-availability of infrastructure. However, the College was shifted to its own campus at the village Ikrumoo in October 2015. The new College campus is spread over fifty-four (54) kanals of land. The invigorating mountain air, the calm atmosphere, the serene environs, the densely clad lush green hills and the snow-capped mountains in the background embellish, enhance and enrich the beauty of the College campus. Moreover, the aeolian tones produced by the breeze and the psithurism caused by the wind amid the burbling of the Brengi Stream makes the campus ambience soothing to the soul and exhilarating to the physique of all those who approach the College.

The “mission” of an individual, organization or an institution is ‘a strongly felt aim, ambition, or calling” for the accomplishment of a well designed goal or end. So, it is totally different from an ‘adventure’ in which there are chances of failure as well. The “mission”, on the other hand, carries the sense of the fulfillment of the aim with it and for this purpose ‘a strong urge’ should be coupled with ‘a strong determination’ to endure and persevere in the path leading to the goal. Now, for an institution, the “mission” needs collective efforts, therefore, the College has declared to:

  1.    Strive for the intellectual and moral empowerment of all the stake holders of the institution and
  2.     Promote discovery and application of knowledge through co-operation and collaboration

as its “mission.”

Vision

Vision is like a lighthouse which shows the way; if vision gives direction, values set boundaries,” is said by India’s great entrepreneur philanthropist, Azim Hashim Premji. Although literally being ‘the faculty or state of being able to see’, “vision” in the real sense is ‘the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.’ As such, on the basis of a well thought out plan emerged from imagination and wisdom for future uplift of the society, “vision” should not only show the way forward but it should provide the direction as well. However, the positive values of the society concerned, which are the direct result of centuries of experience, should in no way be lost sight of. Therefore, the College has set ‘to emerge as a premier institution of academic excellence and torch bearer in quality education’ as its “vision” for it is education that utilizes the present opportunities to bind together the past and the future to help the society to thrive after being ‘modified as an organic whole’ according to the standards and requirements of the ever changing times.
